The essay gave us a lot of reasons for how The Odyssey is still relevant today.  Odysseus had impulsiveness that led him to bad and sometimes good decisions, he had self-discipline which saved him many-a-time during his 20 year voyage back to Itheca.  Odysseus was a determined man who persevered to succeed and survive.  Like, a normal man, Odysseus was determined to prove himself to others.  Although, he did rely on Gods to get him through touch situations, so he did not have to think things through, which made him less of a hero in this story, to me.  I do agree with this person's point of view and take of The Odyssey.
